Activity and Error Logs

The Logging page displays logs for all users and services.

The History page is available from service details pages. This provides the same information as the Logging page, but only displays entries that are specific to that service.

Router logs

Router logs are available from port details pages.

The information that is logged varies depending on the device. Common log messages are SNMP_TRAP_LINK_UP and SNMP_TRAP_LINK_DOWN, which are logged when an interface changes its Operational or Administrative state.

Optical light level warnings or alarms are also logged here.

TIP: You can find a wide array of device logs (including IFD errors) via the Metric API calls.

Severity levels

Event logs are categorized by the following severity levels:

  • Header Row

    • Severity

    • 0 - Emergency
    • Currently, we do not have any level 0 severity events.
    • N/A
  • Row 2

    • 1 - Alert
    • Currently, we do not have any level 1 severity events.
    • N/A
  • Row 3

    • 2 - Critical
    • Currently, we do not have any level 2 severity events.
    • N/A
  • Row 4

    • 3 - Error

    • Errors that occur when a user is performing actions on a service, including:

      • Provisioning errors
      • Billing errors
      • Update, delete, and upgrade errors for all services.
      • Connections timing out
      • Devices not supporting the requested action
      • Missing device data
      • Unhandled exceptions
      • Attempting to delete ports without first removing virtual circuits

    • 4 - Warning
    • Currently, we do not have any level 4 severity events.
    • N/A

    • 5 - Notice
      • User logouts
      • New users added
      • Disabling ports
    • Informational only

    • 6 - Info
      • User logins
      • All user actions on services (create, upgrade, delete, etc)
    • Informational only

    • Events specific to hosted and dedicated cloud connections.

    • This refers to the information under Administration > Company Contacts, and logs an event when contacts are created, updated, and deleted.
  • Row 5
    • Customer
    • Events related to the information under Administration > Company Profile.
  • Row 5
    • Document
    • Shows an informational event when a user uploads a document.

    • LAG Interface
    • LAG interfaces being created, updated, and deleted.

    • Logical Interface
    • Shows system-generated events specific to virtual circuits, including virtual circuits associated with cloud connections.

    • Point-to-Point
    • Events specific to point-to-point connections.
  • Row 5
    • Physical Interface
    • Events specific to ports.

    • User
    • Events logged when users are added, updated, and removed.
